VDM Loses to Femi & Falz in Court Battle

A Lagos High Court has dismissed the preliminary objection filed by social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), in a ₦1 billion defamation lawsuit brought against him by human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, musician Folarin Falana (Falz). The court also imposed a ₦200,000 fine on VDM for his unsuccessful objection. Background of the Case The lawsuit stems from a video posted by VDM on his Instagram account (@verydarkblackman) on September 24, 2024. In the video, VDM allegedly made defamatory remarks about the Falanas, accusing them of obstructing justice in a case involving controversial figure Bobrisky. The Falanas claim that these statements were false and damaging to their reputations. Serious Charges Filed The 44-year-old actor is facing nine felony charges. These include first-degree sexual abuse, criminal sexual acts, attempted assault, assault, and strangulation. According to the Brooklyn grand jury, the incidents took place between April 2020 and August 2021 in the Bushwick area. Graphic Allegations Prosecutors allege Pitt sexually touched the woman without consent in April 2020. In August that year, he allegedly forced oral sex on her and struck her with a piece of lumber. The indictment further claims he attacked her with a cinder block twice in June 2021 and later choked her in August 2021.
