The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.

In his announcement, Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended his congratulations to all Nigerians on this significant occasion. A statement released on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, quoted the minister: “As we mark another Democracy Day in the history of our dear country, let us all reflect on the efforts of our founding fathers and ensure that Nigeria remains a united, secure, peaceful, and indivisible entity.”
