

Retired Brigadier General Uwem Udokwere was killed in Abuja during an armed robbery at his estate on Saturday morning, according to a statement from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, reported that the Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, has ordered an immediate investigation into the incident. The statement detailed the attack at Sunshine Homes estate, which resulted in the death of Brigadier General Udokwere at around 3:00 a.m. on June 22, 2024.
Commissioner Benneth Igweh expressed his condolences to the family and assured them and the public that swift justice will be pursued. He emphasized the command’s commitment to enhancing security in the nation’s capital and promised that the perpetrators would be apprehended and brought to justice. In a separate incident on Saturday, suspected bandits kidnapped Reverend Father Mikah Suleiman, the parish priest of St. Raymond Catholic Church in Damba, Gusau, Zamfara State. The Zamfara State Police Command’s spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar, confirmed that the priest was taken from his residence around 3 a.m. The incident was not immediately reported to the police, but a tactical squad has been deployed to pursue the kidnappers and ensure the priest’s safe return.
