Bandits have killed Dr. Tiri Gyan David, a lecturer at the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State.
The attack occurred in the early hours of today, Tuesday.
Dr. David, who was the Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development at the university, was attacked at his home in Yarima Quarters, Low-Cost Estate, Dutsinma Local Government Area. An eyewitness reported that the attack happened around 1:30 am.
The bandits, armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the community and fired shots to frighten the residents. During the attack, they abducted two of Dr. David’s children.
Katsina Police Command spokesman, Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident and mentioned that a detailed statement would be released soon.
Despite ongoing efforts by the state government and security agencies, Dutsinma remains one of the ten local government areas frequently targeted by bandits.
