During the “Money in the Bank” event, Cena revealed that he will be stepping away from WWE next year at 47.

Cena holds a record of 16 WWE world championships.

His announcement was met with mixed reactions from the crowd. He expressed his gratitude to fans, saying, “Thank you for letting me be part of the world you created for so long.”

Speaking at a press conference, Cena emphasized the importance of storytelling in WWE.

He clarified that his decision to retire is not about legacy but about doing something special for the global audience that has supported him.

Cena plans to fulfill 30 to 40 more dates through 2025 before officially ending his wrestling career, which began in 2000.

He mentioned that the current timing feels right, given WWE’s peak popularity and significant upcoming events, like a Netflix debut in January 2025.

Cena, whose 16 championships tie him with Ric Flair for the record, insisted that his retirement is final. “People often come back after saying they’re done. I want to make it clear: this is it for me,” he stated.

Beyond wrestling, Cena has enjoyed a successful acting career, appearing in movies such as “Barbie,” “The Suicide Squad,” and the “Fast & Furious” series.
