In a surprising twist, Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina, a 23-year-old beauty with roots in Nigeria, South Africa, and Mozambique, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024.

Born and raised in South Africa, Chidimma’s journey to the crown hasn’t been without its challenges.

Earlier this year, she faced a storm of criticism and backlash when she entered the Miss South Africa pageant. Negative online comments about her mixed heritage and even accusations of fraud from the South African Home Office led her to withdraw from the competition.

However, when one door closes, another opens. The Miss Universe Nigeria organizers saw her potential and extended an invitation, which she graciously accepted.

The Miss Universe Nigeria pageant was a night to remember, filled with dazzling outfits, confident walks, and sharp minds.

The top five finalists included Chidimma representing Taraba, alongside contestants from Anambra, Edo, Ondo, and Rivers.

After a tough competition, the final three were announced: Miss Ondo took home the title of Miss Lush, Miss Anambra was crowned the first runner-up and Miss Supranational, and Chidimma Adetshina emerged as the overall winner, Miss Universe Nigeira 2024.

As she accepted the crown, Chidimma delivered a powerful message: “This crown is not just for beauty; it’s a call for unity.” With this victory, she’s set to represent Nigeria on the global stage at the Miss Universe contest, turning what was once controversy into a moment of triumph and pride.
