In a shocking case that has horrified France, 71-year-old Dominique P is on trial for drugging his wife and facilitating her repeated rape by dozens of strangers over the course of a decade.
The crimes, which came to light in 2020, involved at least 92 rapes by 72 men, with 50 of them now standing trial alongside Dominique.
The abuse began in 2011 while the couple lived near Paris and continued after their move to Mazan two years later.
Prosecutors say the husband not only participated in the rapes but also filmed them, using degrading language to encourage the other men.
No money was exchanged.
The accused rapists include individuals from various walks of life, such as a forklift driver, a fire brigade officer, a company executive, and a journalist. While most participated only once, some were involved up to six times.
The victim, unaware of the abuse due to heavy sedation, is set to face the ordeal of seeing video evidence for the first time during the trial.
The couple has been married for a couple of decades.
