When you think of a beauty queen, the image that often comes to mind is slim, tall, and fair-skinned. But Ufa Dania is here to shatter these stereotypes.
As the first plus-sized contestant in Miss Universe Nigeria, she’s proving that beauty knows no size or shape.
Representing Kwara State, Ufa is also a content creator on a mission to challenge the pageant world.
In her Miss Universe introduction, she proudly declared, “Let’s redefine what it means to be a queen.”
Her journey hasn’t been without controversy. “I may not fit the ‘standard pageant girl’ look, but I refuse to be boxed in,” Ufa boldly stated in a recent Instagram video. She’s faced years of criticism for her body, saying, “I’ve been chubby all my life. Imagine being both fat and dark-skinned in primary school—people said my life was over before it even began.”
Despite the negativity, Ufa has emerged stronger. She no longer lets hurtful comments shake her confidence. “I’ve risen from the ashes like a phoenix. Low self-esteem, insecurity—they once had a hold on me, but no more.”
For Ufa, true beauty isn’t just about appearance. “A real queen listens to the cries and needs of her community,” she said, emphasizing that a queen’s power lies in her heart, not just her looks.
