President Tinubu approves N108 billion for Nigeria’s 36 states to tackle flooding and erosion, ensuring regions are better equipped to handle future disasters.

President Bola Tinubu has given the green light for N108 billion to be distributed across Nigeria’s 36 states to tackle the growing threat of flooding and other natural disasters.

Vice President Kashim Shettima announced this decision on Wednesday at the State House in Abuja while receiving Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen.

Shettima described the flood situation in Maiduguri as a “national calamity” and praised the president’s commitment to addressing these issues.

“The President has demonstrated a strong commitment to partnering with the states to solve these challenges,” Shettima stated. “He recently approved the release of N3 billion to each state to help address these disasters and ensure that all regions feel included in this initiative.”

Shettima also took a moment to commend Speaker Tajudeen for his exceptional leadership in the National Assembly, noting that despite having nearly 70% of newly sworn-in members, the Speaker has maintained stability in the House of Representatives.

Tajudeen, in turn, expressed solidarity with Shettima, Tinubu, and the people of Borno State, vowing that the National Assembly would provide necessary support to the affected communities.

He promised that efforts would be made to help people return to their normal lives as soon as possible.

With this substantial funding, it is hoped that states will have the resources needed to mitigate future disasters and restore affected communities.
