Chicago rapper Lil Durk has been taken into federal custody, charged in a chilling murder-for-hire scheme allegedly aimed at fellow rapper Quando Rondo.
The arrest has rocked the music world, with new revelations painting a dramatic picture of vengeance, high-stakes plotting, and a brutal feud between rival camps.
Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Devontay Banks, was arrested last Thursday in Florida. Prosecutors allege he conspired to have Quando Rondo killed as revenge for the 2020 death of King Von, a close friend and collaborator.
Alongside Durk, five men tied to his Only The Family (OTF) rap collective were arrested in Chicago and appeared in court, each facing serious charges as co-conspirators.
Court documents reveal that Lil Durk allegedly placed a bounty on Quando Rondo, reportedly fueling a months-long plan to track down and assassinate the rapper.
According to an FBI affidavit, Lil Durk’s credit cards were used to purchase flight tickets for OTF members, purportedly to facilitate the murder.
Federal agents allege that multiple witnesses pointed to Durk as the mastermind, orchestrating the plot from behind the scenes.
The alleged murder-for-hire scheme was reportedly an act of retaliation. Prosecutors claim that, following King Von’s tragic death in 2020 during a violent confrontation with Quando Rondo’s entourage Lil Durk sought revenge.

The tension between both camps had been high, and in 2022, Durk and his associates allegedly set plans in motion to take out Quando Rondo.
According to federal authorities, OTF members traveled to Los Angeles intending to carry out the hit. However, when gunfire erupted, they missed their target and instead struck Quando’s cousin, l (known as Lul Pab), who was riding as a passenger in Rondo’s vehicle.

As details continue to unfold, prosecutors have revealed that Lil Durk allegedly tried to escape justice before his arrest.
According to the affidavit, he booked flights to Italy, Switzerland, and Dubai, seemingly in an attempt to evade capture. But his plans didn’t work out, and agents apprehended him before he could leave the country.
Lil Durk is expected to be arraigned in Los Angeles federal court in the coming weeks.
The five co-defendants face additional charges of conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire and the use of a machine gun resulting in death.
Quando Rondo dropped a new song titled “Life Goes On” over the weekend, which appears to be his response to the arrest of Lil Durk.
In what appears to be a direct reaction to the attempted hit, Rondo reflects on the violence and loss surrounding him, delivering emotional lyrics like, “I’m scarred from all the losses in the streets / I never thought I’d see your name next to R.I.P.”
He took to Instagram as well, expressing his forgiveness for past conflicts and praying for everyone involved, though he stopped short of naming Lil Durk or OTF.
