This emphasis on capital expenditure, accounting for 62.75% of the budget, reflects the state’s commitment to infrastructure expansion, agricultural investment, and economic diversification.

Announcing the proposal, Delta State Commissioner for Economic Planning, Sunny Ekedayen, alongside other key officials, explained that the 2025 budget is a 29.12% increase from the 2024 budget.

Ekedayen highlighted priority areas such as agriculture, small and medium enterprises, youth engagement, tourism, and poverty alleviation as focal points for next year’s fiscal plan.

Commissioner for Information, Ifeanyi Osuoza, also addressed the need for accountability in project execution, especially as the dry season presents an ideal window for construction.

He warned contractors facing delays that the government expects full mobilization to sites without excuses. “We have zero tolerance for delays,” Osuoza emphasized, signaling that contractors could face sanctions if projects stall.

This substantial budget increase reflects Delta State’s resolve to drive growth and enhance quality of life through proactive investments, and the government appears determined to see projects delivered on time to ensure maximum benefits for residents.
