This arrest follows explosive claims made by blogger Martins Otse, known online as VeryDarkMan (VDM), who accused Bobrisky of bribing officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with ₦15 million to avoid money laundering charges after his controversial naira-spraying stunt in April.
VDM further alleged that Bobrisky paid for luxurious prison privileges, including access to a television and fridge, during his six-month sentence.
While Bobrisky has denied these claims, the scandal has gained widespread attention.
The EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) have both launched investigations, and the House of Representatives has called for a probe into the allegations. In response, the Federal Government suspended several senior NCoS officers.
On September 30, 2024, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo established a special panel to investigate misconduct within the NCoS.
The panel’s report, submitted Monday, confirmed that Bobrisky enjoyed certain luxuries in prison, sparking outrage among the public.
As investigations unfold, Bobrisky remains in custody, and the drama surrounding his case continues to capture national attention.
