Burna Boy and Davido are once again proving their dominance in African music, leading the 2025 AFRIMA nominations with five nods each. Both superstars earned places in hot categories like Album of the Year and Song of the Year, setting the stage for an electrifying showdown.

South Africa’s DJ Maphorisa is also in the spotlight with five nominations, including Best African DJ, while Morocco’s rap heavyweight El Grande Toto matched the big names with his own five nods.
Street-pop favourite Shallipopi continues his meteoric rise, bagging four nominations including Artiste of the Year for his viral anthem Laho. Rema isn’t left out, securing three nominations across major categories.

Female artistes are making waves too. Senegal’s Mia Guissé and Ghana’s Moliy stormed the nominations with five each, proving the growing influence of women in Africa’s soundscape. South Africa’s Tyla followed closely with four nods, while Ayra Starr scored two.
Fans will have their say as public voting opens on September 10, 2025, via the official AFRIMA website. Voting closes on November 29, just before the grand ceremony on November 30.
