The US President Donald Trump has stated that the United States will take control of Gaza, describing a “long-term ownership” plan for the Palestinian territory.
Speaking at the White House alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump referred to Gaza as a “demolition site” and suggested that its two million Palestinian residents would be relocated to various countries, including Egypt and Jordan—despite both nations having firmly rejected such a proposal.

When asked whether the US would deploy troops to Gaza to fill a potential security vacuum, Trump responded, “We’ll do what is necessary.” He went on to describe plans to “develop it, create thousands of jobs,” and turn the war-ravaged region into “something the entire Middle East can be proud of.”
Trump claimed that his vision would bring stability to Gaza, calling it the “Riviera of the Middle East”, and insisted that he had studied the situation “closely over many months” from every possible angle.
Palestinians ‘Wouldn’t Want to Return’
Trump made it clear that he does not support allowing Palestinians to return to Gaza, arguing that their homeland has brought them “nothing but death and destruction.”
“Who would want to go back?” he asked, before suggesting that Palestinians be permanently resettled in a ‘beautiful area’ with nice homes where they can live safely.”
His comments echo his earlier 25th January remarks, where he suggested mass relocation of Palestinians to neighbouring countries—a stance that has been firmly rejected by Arab nations and Palestinian leaders.
Saudi Arabia and Arab Nations Reject Trump’s Plan
Following Trump’s remarks, Saudi Arabia swiftly condemned any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza, warning that such actions would be a clear violation of international law.
The kingdom also reiterated its long-standing position that it will not establish diplomatic relations with Israel unless a Palestinian state is recognised.
US ‘Ownership’ of Gaza Sparks International Outrage
When questioned on what authority the United States had to claim ownership of Gaza, Trump simply stated, “Everybody I’ve spoken to loves the idea.”
He insisted that US control would bring peace and prosperity to the region, despite growing international backlash over the legality and morality of such a move.
Critics warn that Trump’s proposal amounts to forced displacement, illegal occupation, and could further destabilise the Middle East.
With tensions already high in the region, his comments have added fuel to an already raging fire, sparking fears of wider geopolitical conflict.
