Native Doctor’s Bulletproof Charm Fails
Ismail Usman: Who believed so much on his charm to risk his life.

A dramatic event unfolded in Kuchibiyi community, Bwari Area Council, FCT, Abuja, when a native doctor’s attempt to showcase his “bulletproof” charm backfired—literally.

The native doctor, identified as Ismail Usman, decided to prove the effectiveness of his self-made bulletproof charm by shooting himself in the stomach with a homemade gun. Unfortunately: the charm didn’t work.

A resident, narrated the incident: “He prepares traditional herbs and concoctions. On Thursday, he decided to test his bulletproof charm by firing at himself. Clearly, things didn’t go as planned.”

Police arrived promptly after the mishap and discovered a stash of charms and the homemade firearm at Usman’s residence.

The FCT Police Command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident, revealing that the victim was critically injured and had to be rushed to Kubwa General Hospital, later being transferred to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital for advanced care.

“The victim will face charges for unlawful possession of firearms and attempted suicide under Section 231 of the Penal Code Law,” SP Adeh added.

FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, condemned the reckless act, calling it a stark reminder of the dangers of illegal firearms and questionable practices. “Let this serve as a warning: reckless stunts like this are life-threatening. Protect your life, not your ego,” he said.
