Beyoncé is once again reigning supreme in the 2025 Grammy nominations, earning a career-high 11 nods for her “Cowboy Carter” album and its chart-topping singles.
This marks a personal milestone for Beyoncé, surpassing her previous record of 10 nominations in 2009.
But while Beyoncé steals the spotlight, she’s not alone in this glittering race. She is joined by four other fierce women—Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Sabrina Carpenter—nominated in all three of the Grammy’s top categories: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year.
The competition is fierce, but Roan and Carpenter stand out, each also nominated for Best New Artist, making them eligible for all four major general categories.
If either were to win Best New Artist and claim victories across the other top categories, they’d make Grammy history, joining Billie Eilish in 2020 as the only artists to achieve this feat.
Charli XCX, Post Malone, and Kendrick Lamar aren’t far behind, each securing seven nominations.
Swift, Roan, and Carpenter follow with six nominations each, further adding to the impressive list of nominees shaping this year’s Grammy race.
Is 2025 the Grammys’ year of women? It sure feels like it, with female artists taking six out of the eight spots in both Album and Record of the Year categories.
But this surge of female power isn’t a one-off—last year, women dominated these categories too, solidifying a trend that’s been gaining momentum for several years now.
The recognition of these women reflects their undeniable presence in the charts and pop culture, making Grammy predictions a bit easier.
However, the Recording Academy didn’t shy away from surprising us with a few unexpected male nominees. Andre 3000’s nomination for his instrumental album New Blue Sun is sure to spark debate, while The Beatles’ posthumous track “Now and Then” joins the race for Record of the Year, a fitting nod to the legends’ enduring legacy.
Meanwhile, rising stars like Benson Boone, Teddy Swims, and Shaboozey are making their mark. Though Boone and Swims only received a single nomination for Best New Artist, Shaboozey is a standout with multiple nods, including Best Remix for his record-breaking hit “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and a feature on Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter.”
As the February 1st ceremony approaches, the question remains: will Beyoncé finally claim the elusive Album or Record of the Year win, which has eluded her despite a record-breaking Grammy haul? With fierce competition, including Kendrick Lamar’s ubiquitous anthem “Not Like Us,” anything is possible.
Nigerian music icons have once again made their mark on the Grammy stage.
This year, Tems leads the Nigerian nominees with three nods, while Yemi Alade, Asake & Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido are all in the running for the new Best African Music Performance category.
In the Best Global Music Album category, both Rema and Tems have secured nominations.
Nigerian artists have been consistently recognized in recent years, and we’re hopeful that this year will bring home a well-deserved win.
