Actor Michael Pitt has been indicted for allegedly sexually abusing and violently assaulting his ex-girlfriend. The disturbing incidents reportedly occurred over a span of more than a year at his Brooklyn residence.
Serious Charges Filed
The 44-year-old actor is facing nine felony charges. These include first-degree sexual abuse, criminal sexual acts, attempted assault, assault, and strangulation. According to the Brooklyn grand jury, the incidents took place between April 2020 and August 2021 in the Bushwick area.
Graphic Allegations
Prosecutors allege Pitt sexually touched the woman without consent in April 2020. In August that year, he allegedly forced oral sex on her and struck her with a piece of lumber. The indictment further claims he attacked her with a cinder block twice in June 2021 and later choked her in August 2021.
Pitt Denies the Claims
Pitt pleaded not guilty last Friday. His lawyer, Jason Goldman, insists his client is innocent. He claims the allegations are untrue and stem from a consensual relationship that ended years ago.

Goldman stated he has “exonerating evidence” and expects the case to be dismissed. He also criticised the timing and reliability of the accusations.
Legal Process Continues
Pitt was released on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court again on June 17. The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office has not issued further comments beyond the indictment details.
Past Legal Trouble
This isn’t Pitt’s first run-in with the law. In 2022, TMZ reported he was arrested for allegedly punching a man and later escorted to a hospital after a public disturbance in New York City .
