Nigerian social media sensation and crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has taken legal action against Martins Vincent Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, demanding ₦1 billion in damages over alleged defamation.

The suit, which Bobrisky announced on his Instagram, accuses VeryDarkMan of releasing an AI-generated audio clip that falsely ties Bobrisky to inappropriate relationships with politicians and law enforcement officials.

The VeryDarkMan also accused the EFCC of collecting money from Bobrisky to drop charges against him. The EFCC has since invited both VeryDarkMan and Bobrisky for further investigation, but neither has responded to the invitation prior to this new development with Bobrisky’s legal suit.

In the suit, Bobrisky’s legal team claims VeryDarkMan has been using Bobrisky’s name for personal gain, exploiting his influence for social media clout.

According to the legal statement, VeryDarkMan spread unfounded allegations in a viral video, alleging that Bobrisky had illicit encounters with top political figures, including Deputy Inspectors General of the Nigeria Police Force. Despite these serious claims, no evidence has been provided to support them.

The lawsuit also calls out VeryDarkMan for disregarding Bobrisky’s mental health, privacy, and fundamental rights while continuing to spread damaging falsehoods.

The legal document reads, “You have persistently made reckless and baseless statements that infringe on our client’s mental wellbeing, right to privacy, and other constitutional rights.”

Adding fuel to the fire, Bobrisky’s lawyers stated that VeryDarkMan recently published an AI-generated audio, falsely claiming it was a conversation between Bobrisky and an unnamed individual. Bobrisky denies any involvement in such conversations and sees this as a calculated move to tarnish his reputation. The lawsuit demands that VeryDarkMan retract the defamatory content within 24 hours or face further legal consequences.

Also, the suit reveals that VeryDarkMan allegedly threatened Bobrisky in a recent video, to pay the sum of N4m Bobrisky owed his clients and promised to release further damaging content unless Bobrisky complied with his demands. Despite the alleged payment, VeryDarkMan continued his smear campaign, exposing what the lawsuit describes as his “ulterior motives” and attempts at blackmail.

Bobrisky’s legal team demands that the AI-generated audio be removed, accompanied by a public apology in two national newspapers and a video apology posted on all social media platforms.

Furthermore, they insist that VeryDarkMan stop publishing defamatory content and pay ₦1 billion in damages within 24 hours. Failure to meet these demands, according to the statement, will lead to immediate court action.
