PDP supporters in Edo State protesting at the INEC office in Benin City, urging the electoral body to reverse the 2024 governorship election results.

Supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State gathered at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Benin City, protesting the results of the recent governorship election.

The demonstrators, holding placards and wearing PDP insignia, demanded that INEC reverse the results of the September 21, 2024 election.

They insisted that the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo, was the rightful winner, not Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who had been declared governor-elect the day after the election.

The protesters accused INEC of manipulating the results in favour of the APC.

According to the final tally, Okpebholo won with 291,667 votes, defeating Ighodalo, who secured 247,274 votes. Labour Party (LP) candidate Olumide Akpata came third with 22,763 votes, while the remaining fourteen candidates received significantly fewer votes.
